I was in California for work and because we were in Folsom and i like Johnny Cash so much i persuaded my colleagues to come with me to Folsom Prison to see if has changed in the last 40 years and maybe take a picture near a sign or something.
I took the booklet from my copy of "live at Folsom Prison" one of my favourite albums.
We had our meeting and while we were there i asked the hosts where the prison was.
WE go a map and although the others were not kean we set off through Folsom.
The first sign for the prison would hav done but we went on down an undulating road through the scorched grass and oaks.
Thinking that we were werent quite there we stopped in a car park and saw a prison officer. I hadn't realised that Folsom was still a working prison. He was really nice and pointed us towards the gate. IT turns out that the front of the prison has not changed on 40 years and as we got to the entrance i looked across the road and saw the old gate house with the crest on it.
THe rules and regs were explained and we waited for the staff to come out before taking pics.
Then i messed up. I should have worn a black suit or assumed the pose but instead i posed as a numpty.
Anyway i stood where JC stood 40 years later with the same background.
It was wierd and very warm.
Then my friend Phil had his picture taken by me and we set off.
There was a museum but it was shut.
